Freelance Photographer's Guidelines:
  • Oregon Coast magazine - Oregon Coast magazine features stories of regional interest, written in a clear, crisp style that is rich in anecdotes and quotes and that illustrate the writer’s interaction or create a theme. Stories should re-create the writer’s experience. Be specific, informative, and vivid. Curtail the over-use of adjectives and clichés. Payment is for one-time rights, with the understanding that no photos will be published in any similar magazine within two months. We reserve the right to use images of the magazines and calendars in which your work has been published in our own promotional material. Pays up to $375/photo. (Hits: 34) | Detail | Visit Website
  • Outdoor California magazine - Outdoor California is a state, non-profit, four-color, 48-page magazine published bi-monthly. It provides readers with access and insight into California's wildlife and wildlands, and the people who work to protect and maintain it. Topics: Native California fish, wildlife, plants and habitat. Underwater photography along the California coast is always helpful as well. Most of the photographs Outdoor California uses come from the Photography Award program but other submissions are welcome. Outdoor California has a limited budget and can only pay for a few items each year. (Hits: 190) | Detail | Visit Website
  • Outdoors Magazine - Outdoors Magazine is happy to receive photography queries. It is preferred that these be sent in low resolution format or as a portfolio link. Approximately three-quarters of the covers we use are of whitetail deer, either alive or in trophy shots. We are also interested in photos with coyotes, brook trout, and large northern pike in winter settings. Payment rates will be judged on the quality and desirability of the photo. We also need humorous and action shots from various events in the northern Rockies. Send only photos (no slides, contact sheets or negatives). Digital resolution of 7 mega-pixels or higher accepted (which means some point-and-shoots work, but a digital SLR is way better). Do not alter or render photos unless otherwise specified. Once you’ve identified the appropriate department, please send us a brief query summarizing the scope of your story or photo essay, and an explanation of why you’re qualified to do it. Payment will be made 30-45 days after publication. (Hits: 29) | Detail | Visit Website
