Sports Photography Ok, I have been a photographer for several years now, doing landscape photography, "industrial" photography, and special event work. Recently I have been taking photos at sporting events ranging from college level rowing to professional racing on my own time, and I have not only found I have a knack for it, but I rather enjoy it.
My question is, what is a good way to break into the Sports photography biz? Specifically racing.. where I have by far had the most fun. Does anyone know?
sports photographyim looking at doing sports photograpghy for my highschool in my sr. year. most of these if not all will end up in the yearbook. i plan on going to school for photography later on after my sr. year. anyway, im gonna be able to sit on the side lines for almost every sport next year. I was looking at getting a Nikon D40 as recomended by my teacher but while reading a review i seen that some people didn't think the Nikon was very good with sports photography. what do you think?

What is a good name for a sports photography businessI am trying to think of a name for a small sports photography business. We will also do some portrait work, photo DVDs, and possibly other things down the road so the name can't be too photography specific (in other words - no ABC Photography).
Our names are very unusual and difficult to say so we can't go that route.
Any ideas?
How can I get into the sports photography fieldI've been practicing photography as a hobby for approx. 6 years. I would love to work with someone that worked in the sports field so that I might work in that field myself one day.
How do I get into sports photographyI took up photography a little while ago and I absolutely love it. I would like to do sports photography but, to be honest, I have no idea how to go about doing it. Any tips on how to go about building a portfolio and where to start when applying for jobs somewhere - or even what companies to apply to? Thanks.
What is the best digital camera handheld setup for wildlife and sports photographyWhat is the best handheld portable setup for digital camera for telephoto wildlife and sports photography, without having to get a huge lens which requires tripod. I am guessing 70-200mm 2.8, and for extra reach add a 1.7 teleconverter? I am not sure what else I can do other than paying 6500 dollars for the next steup up which is 200-400mm. Using Nikon D80
What39s are the best settings for outdoor sports photographyI am learning sports photography and would like some opinions on best settings for outdoor, sunny sports such as soccer, football and maybe baseball. Can you study sports photography specifically at collegeI am looking to become a sports photographer and have relatively good equipment. I would like to know whether there are any courses at college where you study sports photography specifically or whether you have to do a photography course is general.
If you can only photography in general, do you know whether the college would provide passes so that you could take photos at local sports events?
Thanks
What Camera to buy for SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHYI am pretty decent with a camera, and am looking to buy a good camera, but was wondering what to look for in a camera mainly used for sports photography. I figure i need to have a high ISO and shutter speed, but what do you recommend and what are the shutter speeds and iso numbers i should be looking at?
I also intend to buy a flash as well and later down the road a lense, but for now, mainly the camera.

What39s the best kind of DSLR for sports photographyI've been looking into buying a DSLR camera, and I've spent a while looking through reviews and such, but I'm not really sure whether I should be getting a canon or nikon. I've heard good things about both, and bad, but I'm not sure which one will be better for what I want to do. I want to use it for sport's photography (mostly horse shows and action kind of portraits - I've been currently using a basic digital camera for all of this).
So I need help deciding exactly what I should go for, and then what kind of lens. I don't want to spend a lot of money, considering I have to buy this myself, but I'm not too concerned about prices.
What is the best DSLR Nikon camera for low light indoor sports photography for purchase todayI like the features and resolution quality of Nikon cameras so I want to know of the current Nikon DSLR lineup which should I go for when it comes to low light sports photography?

I need a good camera for sports photography and for photos of people who walk around which is bestI have used a point-and-shoot all this year, and everything is blurry. I like to take photos of sports and of the political candidates when they come to town, but they always walk around the stage. I wanted to know if 3 fps is good enough for sports and for people walking. because I don't want to spend more than around 700 bucks. thanks
I am looking more for a D-SLR, not another point-and-shoot.
What is the best camera to buy for sports photographyFirst of all I am a PHD user of cameras (Push Here Dummy) (I don't want to deal with changing of lenses, focusing, backlighting, etc.) I have 2 kids in sports (soccer, gymnastics, basketball & football). They are often far away in the middle or on the other side of the field and of course in action! I want to be able to take quality CLOSE UP pictures with PHD function - good, fast, self-focusing zoom function an absolute must, and multiple fast repeating shots. So what are the best ones out there - I am not made of money so I would like to stay well under $1,000 while maintaining quality of picture and product performance. Anyone who has the experience to advise on what the aspects are to consider with regard to zoom capabilities/multi-frame shots and/or pinpoint a couple of selections would be greatly appreciated. (We have 7.0 mega pixel purse size camera, but its zoom while O.K. for nearby photos is O.K. just won't cut it for the sports!)
