I am selling a ring but need to get some professional looking photos for it first. I have built a lightbox to get the best lighting for the ring but am having trouble finding the proper camera settings. the images appear grey instead of a nice bright white. I am shooting with a Canon T1i with the kit lens 18-55mm. Any thoughts?

Hi! I would like to take photos of the jewelry I make and post them on my website. I have taken photos before using a the MACRO function and have experimented with light--both natural and flash. Problem is, the slightest scratch on silver or spec of dust is magnified 100x and one sees the inconsequential imperfections better than the piece as a whole. What simple techniques can I use with a digital camera to get a flattering photo of my work? Thanks so much for your help. I looked into a few colleges that offer an Art Therapy Master's Degree. On the websites it claims that program prequisites are Bachelor's degree in Art, Psychology, Behavioral Science, Social Science or a related field. I have taken several studio art and psychology courses, and I would like to work in some type of art therapy related field, but I'm more interested in jewelry making and photography, then painting or drawing. Would this qualify me to go for the Master's Degree in Art Therapy?

Can someone please explain what the difference between lenses when shooting jewelry with a rebel XTi. Looking to know the difference between 55mm and 100mm macro? what will be the difference be between the 2? Just bought the 65mm 2.8, but it was WAY too close up. Need room to bounce light / reflect but will the 100mm be a lot better. Need to get this in one shot with minimal photoshop. (using the 55mm lens I am combing 3 layers to get desired effect).

I want to start selling the jewelry I make and photographs I take. Do I need a small business license? If so, about how much do they cost? Should I choose a practical major in college (i'm in my second year) and work on the business on the side, or should I choose an artistic major to further my product -- if I do that, though, I may end up penniless! haha

I am wondering if they are using high end DSLR's and macro lenses or medium format digital. It looks like the lighting is so specialized. I run a small watch company and sell watches online. I have used a couple cameras in the past couple years. And am trying to find a camera that has less noise. It seems like every camera i use has a lot of noise. Canon Eos 400D, Is out of my budget looks to be about $800. The Cannon Powershot A300 i think now is probably about $50 and that takes better pictures then both my R937 by hp and my fujifilm. Yes I had a macro lens for my Fujifilm S5000 however the S5000 over compressed the jpg images so that there was a bunch of noise in the image. Im looking in the $200 range. It can be an older camera. Agian i just need crisp photos, Dont need 10mp, Just a real clean 3mp =)
