Jewelry Photography Some people I'm working with are trying to get pictures of jewelry for their website. They want to do it on their own and want to know if a basic set up like this with a 6 MP Sony DSLR would be good enough to get some good pictures.

What camera settings will give me the best outcome on jewelry photography using a light boxI am selling a ring but need to get some professional looking photos for it first. Jewelry photography tipsI want to photography jewelry. I need to shoot jewelry on a white background. I want to use photoshop to retouch any jewelry images too.
Photography tips for jewelry piecesHi! I would like to take photos of the jewelry I make and post them on my website. I have taken photos before using a the MACRO function and have experimented with light--both natural and flash. Problem is, the slightest scratch on silver or spec of dust is magnified 100x and one sees the inconsequential imperfections better than the piece as a whole.
What simple techniques can I use with a digital camera to get a flattering photo of my work? Thanks so much for your help. Please keep your answers clear and succinct...like in Photography for Dummies, and you will earn that 10 points! :-)
How to photograph an entire ring Jewelry PhotographyTake a look at these websites, I'm trying to achieve the same effect. I shot some rings over the weekend but I could not figure out how to stand them up at this angle without revealing what I was propping it up with.

Does a BA in jewelry or photography quaify one to enter a Master39s program in Art TherapyI looked into a few colleges that offer an Art Therapy Master's Degree. On the websites it claims that program prequisites are Bachelor's degree in Art, Psychology, Behavioral Science, Social Science or a related field. I have taken several studio art and psychology courses, and I would like to work in some type of art therapy related field, but I'm more interested in jewelry making and photography, then painting or drawing. Would this qualify me to go for the Master's Degree in Art Therapy?
Rebel XTi Lens jewelry photographyCan someone please explain what the difference between lenses when shooting jewelry with a rebel XTi. Looking to know the difference between 55mm and 100mm macro? what will be the difference be between the 2?
Just bought the 65mm 2.8, but it was WAY too close up. Need room to bounce light / reflect but will the 100mm be a lot better. Need to get this in one shot with minimal photoshop. (using the 55mm lens I am combing 3 layers to get desired effect).
Small personal business jewelry digital photography etcI want to start selling the jewelry I make and photographs I take. Do I need a small business license? If so, about how much do they cost?
Should I choose a practical major in college (i'm in my second year) and work on the business on the side, or should I choose an artistic major to further my product -- if I do that, though, I may end up penniless! haha
Any Photographers Out There Who Specialize In Shooting JewelryI read a variety of high end fashion magazines and Architectural Digest and see many beautiful ads of watches and jewelry. I am wondering if they are using high end DSLR's and macro lenses or medium format digital. It looks like the lighting is so specialized. I have seen the variety of light boxes and light tents on ebay, but there is a lot more technical info to learn about photographing reflective products. Are there any books out that show step by step tutorials in shooting jewelry. Also, it looks like there is a variety of retouching tools utilized to get the pro look in ads. What is the best gear needed to learn jewelry photography? Thanks for any advice and help with this topic.

Any one have any good suggestions on what camera to get with out breaking the bank.
Canon Eos 400D, Is out of my budget looks to be about $800. The Cannon Powershot A300 i think now is probably about $50 and that takes better pictures then both my R937 by hp and my fujifilm.
Yes I had a macro lens for my Fujifilm S5000 however the S5000 over compressed the jpg images so that there was a bunch of noise in the image. Im looking in the $200 range. It can be an older camera. Agian i just need crisp photos, Dont need 10mp, Just a real clean 3mp =)
