Photoshop... if you want to do it quickly and properly. If you use anything else the chances are it has been modeled on P/shop anyway. Answer 5
The only way to "fix" your images is to use good lighting, a great MAU and stylist and good models. Then using your skills as a photographer shoot your models.
You can use a little program add-on like Kodak's GEM or the more advanced DXO to supplement Photoshop CS2 or CS3. http://www.dxo.com/intl/photo/dxo_optics_pro
But in the end it is the client who does the pre-press and post production, so your images have to be as perfect as they can be right out of the camera ... especially if you are shooting 4x5 chromes. Answer 6
