I have a Kodak camera that cost me only 80 dollars when I bought it new, a year ago or so. It's great for taking photos and videos. It has general photo taking options as well as other special scenarios, like fireworks, close-ups, landscape photos, beach scenes, night-portrait, night-landscape, etc. It was a Kodak "Easyshare" camera that had 8.3 megapixels. I could not find the exact model because they don't sell it anymore, but I found one very similar, 8.2 megapixels and 3x zoom - http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-EasyShare-8-0MP-Digital-Camera/dp/B002SJAKFQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1280189051&sr=1-2 but you get the deal. There are many cheap cameras nowadays that have GREAT photo quality. Search for Sony Cybershot. They're pretty cheap and I've always wanted one of them.

As in for selling the photos? If so your still talking a view camera. Good news used you can get one that is good with a 210mm lens , monorail 4x5 for less then a grand easy. Your tripod will will cost $300 or more as well. Then how you want to light it?

Answer 5

Wellllll..... a large format camera is going for a song these days, but the digital back will put ya down few thousand at least. A few grand for lighting equipment and studio gear. Of course you'll need a studio equipped with a kitchen. Food is one of the hardest things to shoot well. You gotta know how to shoot, how to light, how to style the food and a million and four other little things. Good luck.

Answer 6

Not too expensive is a 4x5" View camera. Great detail, tilt and shift. Very handy. If you have a bit more money then look into something like the Nikon D700 or Canon 5D.
