I would start by handing out fliers at dog and cat shows, placing them in Pet stores, other places where pet owners might see them. Perhaps pet stores will let you display a few sample photographs.

Start with a fund raising photo shoot for your local Humane group. Get newspaper coverage. Put flyers in a vets office.

Depends at what state you are in. If you have absolutely no following, then you need to start at the bottom. Shoot your friends and families animals and start a website. Once you have that, make business cards, post cards and flyers. Leave a business card with each person you meet, leave the flyers in pet stores, vets, animals shows, even grocer stores" anywhere with a bulletin board. The postcards are for people who get on a mailing list. Have that option on your website. Also digitalize the post card and post it on online communites. such as your local newspaper and craigslist.com Word of mouth is your best form of advertising so shoot away!
