State parks are a good place to start. Try shooting in the morning and early evening, the natural light will be a lot friendlier to you. Try to shoot with the sun at your back.

Answer 4

The first thing to do is probably - start taking pictures. Also, take a picture of same objects in different perspective and learn the differences in result. Than, I would suggest that you buy a book that will teach you about nature photography. You will get inspiration and learning, and that is how you can develop it as a hobby.

Answer 5

well it depends on what it is you like to take pictures of. and just start taking pics! Get in an area you would see every day but not admire its beauty until you really look at it. Take pictures of those and so on...

Answer 6

There are so many branches of nature pics but until you go down one section's lane try taking pics of the flowers and trees etc. in your local park. The biggest boon that digital photography has given to picture takers is to be able to view what we have taken as we are out taking. Don't be content to take just one pic of a subject, move around and take from different angles. I take it for granted that you have already got a camera. Some people despise point and shoot cameras as not being good enough for serious work, this is rubbish. A P&S camera can take pics as good as its lens and sensor will allow. If you want to get closer shots than your camera can focus get a set of diopter lenses, they can be screwed into the filter thread on the front of the camera lens. and it allows you to get closer to your subject and you will enter the magical world of macro nature pics. Above all the most important thing is ENJOY YOURSELF.

Answer 7

There are landscapes and then other nature, which usually means animals, birds, or wildlife. Shooting landscapes and flowers is pretty different from shooting birds. For birding or wildlife, you have to have long lenses and stable tripods. You might get some good bird images around a feeder in the backyard. Landscapes are usually cheaper to shoot, equipment wise, and you'll get more keepers from your efforts. Shoot at the golden hours of dawn or dusk, again on a tripod. Keep your horizon level. For sweeping shots, include some foreground interest. Get close for unusual perspectives. Look in nature magazines for great shots. Pay attention to the lighting and composition. Learn some technical stuff, especially you will need to understand aperture and the effect it has on DOF. "Understanding Exposure", by Bryan Peterson is a great book to have in your library. So get your camera and get out there. Start by taking pictures of the things around you and build from there. Keep learning and practicing and enjoy your photography. Best wishes!
