Yes! Do get the Rebel with the 75-300mm lens. I own both and I am very happy with them! The lens will be great for photos where you need to shoot from a distance... such as on the runway or a scene where you want a lot of scenery. We use the Rebel XTi at the Art Institute! Good luck!

You won't need the 75-300mm for fashion. There are a few lenses that glamour/fashion photographers use. 24-85mm f/2, 18-200mm VR, 28-105mm and prime lenses like the 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 That said, if you are just learning how to use a camera, you can save a lot of time and frustration by taking a couple of classes in photography. Spend $200 on a good Nikon or Canon 35mm SLR with lens and learn how to use it. Then you can spend the few thousand dollars on the equipment your really need. Lighting kits can be a good way to go, but unless you know what you need, you can spend way too much money and end up with more (or less) than you actually need. You need to spend some time at a studio and see what they use to really know. And the reason you are choosing a Canon is? Don't limit yourself .. while Nikon produced the first DSLR, Canon's marketing gave them the lead for a while, but now things have changed, in this new crop of DSLR's, Nikon has taken the technological lead ... Look closely at both cameras. Hold them in your hands and practice using them. See which fits your style of shooting. You will really want to spend a little more and buy a Nikon D300 or Canon 40D if you are planning on shooting as a pro. http://www.jdpower.com/electronics/ratings/digital-camera-ratings/dslr
