I have a restoration company looking for a quote for taking pictures of an 8 million dollar restoration project they did on a building in my town. What would you say would be a good price package for them?

Just calculating the bid with only the data you have supplied will be a guess ... preparing the actual bid on such an effort could cost $2500 or more ... depending upon many factors. I am going to take a wild guess and say this isn't your first rodeo and you already know what it costs to document such an undertaking and that while you may be happy with high resolution digital images for the "before" shots, you are expecting the "after" photos to be shot using a 4x5 view camera using all the swings and tilts to assure parallel walls and such and perfect exposures using chrome's for images to be published and negative for prints. My guess that you have budgeted from 4% to 6% of your total budget for the photography portion of the shoot. The photographer will have to figure out the expenses (all the sheet film, processing and printing, transportation, lodging, and rental equipment if he has to rent special lenses for the view camera and any special lighting, cost of the photographers assistants, etc) As a sub-contractor he will also have to supply liability insurance, unless you cover him under your companies insurance. Typically 50% of the total fee (less expenses and adds) is paid up front and then two additional payments made at times agreed upon by the photographer and you the building contractor.
