Which is the best landscape photography lens for canon DSLR cameras?

What are the differences between the canon 18-55mm lens, canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and canon 55-250mm lens? Also, Which one is the best to use for landscape and group photography? Thanks in advanced!

Answer 1

18-55 is a wide to normal angle lens. Can be used to shoot landscapes at wider angles and just general shooting throughout the range. 55-200/250 is a normal to telephoto zoom lens. Can be used for general shooting, portraits, some wildlife-especially captive animals. The 50/1.8 can be used for general shooting but also makes a good portrait lens and indoor/low-light lens because of the large max aperture. Would be good for group portraits.

I own a Rebel XS and I use my 18-55 for most of my flash and indoor stuff. But for landscapes, group shots, etc., I've been using an 18-200. Here's a mixture of both. All these were done with the 18-200. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimsphotostuff
