Any dSLR will do. The 18-55mm kit lens is perfect for the job. All you need now is learn how to use the camera.

Not too expensive... I'll bite
Nikon:
D700
D300s as backup body
24-70 f2.8
2x sb-900
50 and 85mm f1.8
80-200 f2.8 AF-S
At least two sets of batteries for everything. Load of cards. Good photoshop/lightroom skills. Liability insurance.
And of course the skills to shoot 6 hours straight while being a people person all the way. Then a few hours behind the computer to process your last shoot. Then to bed too late and still be fresh for th enext shoot.
Weddings is hard work, it's intense and demands skill and stamina. Answer 3
I agree, weddings are difficult and the one thing above all else, you can never please the mother - no matter what you do, you'll never please her.
All that said I also agree any dslr will do. This is one shot from one of my wedding jobs, with my
Canon Rebel XS and a Canon 28-200 lens. As you can tell I had extra lighting which you'll need for those large shots like this one. You'll also need a tripod, a good bag, plenty of memory cards.

Also good editing software, plenty of patience with your client and especially the mother.
Good luck Answer 4
The Nikon D3s and Nikon D700 are the best DSLR cameras available for wedding photography. These models ensure excellent image quality with high ISO settings that allow the photographer a wide latitude of creative options. Add to that their incredible image quality, the fact that they have the best auto focus system and that they are built to withstand very rough handling, and you have a pair of incredible DSLRs that are perfectly suited for the challenges of photographing a wedding. I started out with a Nikon D90, 50mm 1.8, 85 1.8, 35 1.8, and 24 2.8. I would rent a back-up camera and 70-200 2.8 for the wedding day. The D90 was good to me and was a great starter camera. If you are looking for something with great ISO capabilities (which is crucial for weddings), you need to go with a Nikon D700 or Canon 5D MarkII. I recently upgraded to the Canon 5D Mark II and it is fabulous. << GO BACK to questions
