What's the difference between a commercial photography major and a photography major??

and what jobs do they both offer?

All Answers To Questions

Answer 1

Commercial photography is more advertising while regular photography is more on a broader scale of photography.

Answer 2

A commercial photography major will focus more on the aspects of being employed in the field, whereas a photography major would tend to focus on the fine art of photography. You would have a heavy focus on exhibiting your work and exploring your personal vision- as any artist would. However, I would hear what the specific schools you were considering had to say about their programs.

Answer 3

The first year should be the same: Learning how to use various cameras, films, lighting and how to print the results perfectly. In the second year you will choose your major and by then you will know which field you wish to pursue.

Answer 4

commercial photog=the devil photog major= the devil, with notions about there being differentiations in photography
