Would the 50mm or the 35mm lens be the better option for someone who does fashion photography?

I'd go with the 50mm, the 35mm can be to much of a distortion to the proportions of the body.

If you're going to shoot runways - I think you need a zoom-lens, which means a lens with focal length that can be varied.

I would definitely prefer the 50mm. It really depends on your style though. If you have a zoom lens, eg 18-55mm, try just shooting at 35mm for a while, and then just shooting at 50mm for a while. See which one you liked better, and which one produced better pictures. Buy that one :)
