What setting should I use on my Canon Rebel XTi for pet photography?

I'm starting to take pictures of pets and I was wondering what is the best setting on my camera that I can use? I need to to be fast and clear!

If its in doors and you pop up the flash, the camera might automatically pick a 1/60th setting for the shutter. Anything else, you would probably have to use the manual mode. The Rat

-- Moving pets: use Tv and set it for 1/250 sec or faster to stop motion and camera shake -- Still pets (portraits): use Av and set f8 or so to get adequate depth of field (stop down even further if the pet is long or you're in close) -- You'll still need a quick shutter speed in the above case so be prepared to increase the ISO, use a tripod or use flash -- A fast normal lens (50mm f1.8) will give proper perspective and may let you shoot in dim light without flash (although watch out for shallow depth of field) -- An Image Stabilisation lens may help with camera shake but remember, it doesn't stop blurry critters -- Avoid using Auto as you need to control both aspects of exposure (f stop and shutter speed) Hope this helps.
