What is a good softbox or light source for outdoor photography?

I'm going to start doing outdoor portrait photography and i think i need a soft box but i don't know a good portable one with a continuing light source. Any ideas? i am hoping for a more controled light form less than $100

the are umbrellas you can use to diffuse harsh sunlight on bright sunny days. Just a suggestion, you can always shoot in the shade or try to shoot later in the day for softer, bright sunlight.

Answer 2

continuing light source? - -flash is perfect illumination i wont answer re continuos its to flaky and no where near as clean as using a perfect burst of light for 10,000th of a second get a portable flash unit, get a soft box, get a light stand, put flash on light stand, put soft box on flash, connect flash to camera*, read ambient light, decide on usage of flash or ambient as key, fill or backlight then place flash as per your desires *with your budget a sync cable is the best option to fire your flash, or perhaps a infra red trigger and slave set up

100.00 will not get you anything usable. For 100.00 you can buy a used Vivitar flash, a flash sensor, and a lumiquest bouncer, if you're lucky. A good professional studio strobe, with a battery pack, soft box and light stand will run around 1,000.00. Here's an outdoor shot, taken at midnight, full moon, using flash: http://cgipix.com/Portfolio_Bryce_Canyon_Utah_Vacation_Packages.htm The flash is an SB-900 from Nikon, around 475.00
