What are the typical charges for wedding photography?

I am wondering because I have been doing photography for the last 2 years. So I am relatively new. But I have specialized in infant and child portraiture. I just recently was asked to do a wedding, and that wedding turned into another one. I am thinking about expanding my business to include wedding photography. What are some reasonable prices/packages for wedding photography?

Answer 1

Ask some of the photographers in your area what they charge for different packages; I know that prices will vary according to the setting, # of pics, and other factors.........................some may even have their prices on the web

Answer 2

Hi, and best wishes for success in expanding your photography business to include weddings. I faced a similar transition a while ago, and I found it very helpful to see what national chains like Bella Pictures charge for their packages. Go to their website, http://www.bellapictures.com/ and click on "Pricing" and go through the menus to create a package and see what they charge. You can also search for "Wedding photographers" in your area and see if any of them post prices on their websites. There are also websites that provide "cost calculators" or ranges of prices for various services. Try http://www.costhelper.com/cost/wedding/wedding-phographer.html. But don't take these too seriously. Most are simply unsupported opinions, not based on real life numbers. Price yourself slightly higher or lower than the competition - but DON'T low-ball it completely! This is hard work, and requires many more hours than the "day of" time commitment. there is an american photographer who lives in the UK and his basic package is £2500... and he gets over 30 recommendations a year... go fig!!! look for something on Crash Taylor and see what you have to be able to do to charge that kind of money... http://www.crashtaylor.com/ http://www.interviewsbycrashtaylor.com/

Answer 4

It varies massively and it really is upto you and your own research and requirements on what you charge. There are the £100 "craigslist" mob and there are the top end for who 10-15000 is not unusual. Most tend to be in the middle area at around 1500-5000 for their packages. Use google and have a look at some around your area and see what they are offering and then make your own mind up on what you are worth.

Answer 5

Where I live professional wedding photographers charge around $6000 for about 8 hours. Hack photographers charge less (and it shows).

Answer 6

ive been shooting weddings for over 25years, these days its 800 quid a day, plus £15 ph post production... and were talking 10 and 12 hour shoots.. not a five minute special...
