What are good tips for Modeling photography with a model?

I have been a nature photography ever since the first time I got my first Canon 40D camera. I am an amateur photographer in Modeling and a female friend of mine wants me to take photos of her for an occasion. Are there are any websites or any homemade tips from the professionals?

Take a look at Model Mayhem and One Model Place for ideas ... have your friend look too, because in the end, it is up to the photographer to direct the model. http://the-digital-photography.blogspot.com/

Most photogs that have never woked with live models just don't have a clue how to direct them to pose. Working with people is an art in and of itself and can be very difficult until you get a little experience. Two suggestions... 1. Work as an assistant with another photog who is very experienced with models. Pay attention to how he directs and interacts with the models, makeup artists, stylists, wardrobe coordinators, assistants, etc. Offer to do it free for a few shoots. Your basic photo skills will be appreciated and you will get lots of valuable info. 2. www.modelposing.net has a ton of info on how posing works. it uses basic shapes and forms to show you how to add people to your photos and get angles that are both interesting and pleasing to the eye. What it does not give you is lighting info. That's the rub... It's up to you to manipulate the light. Posing is easy. Nature photogs rely on Mother nature for light. Add a human to the frame and you see light and shadow from a much different perspective.
