Portrait photography?

I have a question on shooting full/half body portrait? Where to focus? (body,shoulder,eyes..etc) but I believe on their eyes? Not sure. One more thing, I have a 430ex II flash hook up to an umbrella and not sure how many feet/Meter away from my subject? Please help, Ps-I'm still learning photography. Thanks

Answer 1

Depends what the theme of the photo is. Innocense - Eyes. Sensuality - Mouth. But random photos focus on the chin. best exposures.

Answer 2

I prefer to focus on the eyes, it's the first thing most people look at

Answer 3

depends. normally people focus on the eye, but if they want to emphasize something else, then they focus on something different. As far as flash, it depends. (aperture, power output, etc.). You should read the owner's manual that came with your flash.
