I have used a point-and-shoot all this year, and everything is blurry. I like to take photos of sports and of the political candidates when they come to town, but they always walk around the stage. I wanted to know if 3 fps is good enough for sports and for people walking. because I don't want to spend more than around 700 bucks. thanks
I am looking more for a D-SLR, not another point-and-shoot.

For $700 or less, you can get a nice entry level DSLR like a Nikon D40. Currently, the D40 is available with an 18-55mm and a 55-200mm lens for under $600.

Two things you may want to know ... in shooting sports, the pros don't us the "machine gun" method of catching the action ... they use what is called "peak of action" for capturing those amazing shots you see. I just takes some practice and knowledge of the game they are covering so they can anticipate the great shots ... next is the pixel count on the sensor ... here is a link that explains this. The real consideration when it comes to sensors, is their size.

Canon DSLRs are known for sports photography. The pro lens are pricey though.
