How long before the wedding to take the bridal photos?

Part of my photography package is to take a private bridal shoot. About how long before the wedding do you think I should do this? My wedding is July 3rd. When should invitations be sent out? Thank you!

Answer 1

I would go for 3 hours prior, gives you some late time and 1-1.5 hours of photo time. Since it's July 3rd 6-8 weeks prior and a save the date would be good, it's a holiday weekend.

Answer 2

I had my bridal photos done about 2.5 hours before the ceremony started. That way everyone was there and ready, and we were able to take lots of bridal party and family photos done in the church chapel before the guests arrived. Th session finished up right when guests started to show up, so we went back to the bridal room to touch up make-up and fix hair and do last minute preparations and the photographer followed us in and we got some wonderful candid photos that way as well. Congratulations on your wedding, I'm sure everything will go beautifully!

Answer 3

I'd say a month prior to the wedding. Do your hair trial in the AM and then take the shots in the afternoon with your hair all done! Send invites out 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding unless it is a destination wedding. (I'm assuming that the bridal shots are your portrait shots that are done prior to the wedding and NOT the one done the day of.. also wondering if this is more shots of you to be given to your hubby the day of...)

Answer 4

I would do it a couple weeks to a month before your wedding and that way you can do your hair and make-up trial and see how it all comes out looking in pictures. You can then make any adjustments you might need to for the big day. I did mine backwards and did it after my wedding so I could also do some fun photos in my dress. I was too worried about messing my dress up before the wedding, so...

Answer 5

We had a friend take my bridal portraits about 2 1/2 months before the wedding. It would've been impossible to do them on the day of. I'm not sure if that's what you normally do but some of the answers on here made it sound like that. You should send your invitations out around the beginning of May, 2 months before your wedding. Good luck!

Answer 6

I would do it a week prior to the wedding. - Have a great day!
