To be a model, there are, like with most jobs, requirements.
Normally, you should be 5'8" or taller, although some exceptions are made. However, if you are under 5'6" and not going to grow anymore, this is probably not the career for you. Your measurements can vary, depending on your height and your look, but usually a model's hips should be from 33"-36" and your waist from 23"-26". If you are a bit higher though, don't despair, if you have the right look it might be okay! However, if you are a a LOT higher then this, you may either need to consider losing weight or being a plus-sized model.
Next, you need to find an agency nearby. Do research! Don't just go to any old agency, make sure it has a good reputation by doing searches on google and checking BBB. Have a friend or parent take pictures of you in clothes that show your form (a rib tank and skinny jeans maybe) and with your hair down. Then, either send them to this agency or better yet, go to an open call. (Check the agency's website to see when they have time slots for aspiring models to come in).
If the agency wants to represent you, then you're basically good! Make sure they're not going to try to rip you off by making you pay a lot of money up front (the only thing you should have to pay for is to get a professional photographer to shoot you for around $500-$600 max.) When you sign a contract, make SURE it is reasonable and read through it completely. Don't be afraid to ask them to make changes.
Tell your agent that you aren't interested in runway, but be open to suggestions. Normally, runway models don't make a lot of money any way, though, so that shouldn't be a problem. :)
