All Answers To Questions

Answer 1

A lady in my office used to work at Sears photography studio. She does wedding pictures on the side now. If you can undercut the local professionals, I think that it's a pretty good market.

Answer 2

You need four things: Professional skills (school can help you get there faster), Good Equipment, a Good eye and a good Business sense. Then you need Experience ... the best way to get that is to work as an assistant to a good photographer. You may have to move to find one who is looking for an assistant at the same time you are looking for a job.

Answer 4

The most important elelment in digital photography is the quality of the lens. Regardless of the way you decide to get into the business, make sure you invest in lenses the same brand as your camera. I recommend the Canon series. You may be able to break into the business by selling stock... get the Photographer's Market 2007 book for actual leads. I got started by shooting stock of the local area and selling to the local postcard producer. I lived in a tourist area in the panhandle of Florida and it was easy to get the scenics that the post card company was looking for. I also have sold to a greeting card company. You may want a studio... if so, then invest in stand alone lighting... no cords to the camera... use a remote flash trigger on your camera. There are many ways to be freelance... I wish you luck... beaux
