I'm a 13 year old girl, and i'm a HUGE animal lover. Day and night I think about animals <3 I want to open a small pet photography studio in my basement, with small backdrops and such. Well, the question is, are you using your own pets in the studio? And if you are, then that's a great idea. You really don't need anything else.

I think you should offer to take photos outside or in their house, otherwise you'll be putting YOUR animals at risk of getting sick if you bring an ill pet inside for photos. The only way to ensure your pets are safe means you'll need proof of vaccines and all that. Sometimes that can be more trouble than it's worth, and I'm sure people will appreciate not having to transport their pets if you just go to their place! Also make sure to have backdrops of at least black, white, brown, and a navy blue. Some fur colors clash with specific backgrounds, so you want a decent variety. Like I have two ferrets who are brown, and look completely white if I photograph them in a dark area.

One thing you'll need your parents for is to find out what type of insurance coverage they have. Animals can be scared by flashes from cameras. I've a few scars from animals that got scared from the flash of my camera. One thing I never do is use a flash when taking photos of the ospreys near my home or the eagles for that matter.
